It is good to see that the Clergy of the Church of England Database is now back online.
The database was established in October 1999. It is a collaboration between historians at King’s College London, the University of Kent and the University of Reading, and it is supported by the Centre for Computing in the Humanities at King’s College London.
Its objective is to construct a relational database containing the careers of all clergymen of the Church of England between 1540 and 1835.
It draws on the principal records from over 50 archives in England and Wales with the aim of providing coverage of as many clerical lives as possible from the Reformation to the mid-nineteenth century.
