Feniton in Devon is the latest addition to the free One Place Studies Directory.
Feniton is unusual in that the village has two distinct parts.
St. Andrew’s Church stands in the original village along with the village hall, post office and a small number of cottages.
Feniton new village, which is considerably larger, lies approximately three quarters of a mile to the west. It was developed mainly from the mid 1960s onwards on an area known as Sidmouth Junction and includes many homes, a new school, shops and social club. The old station buildings have gone and there is a very modest structure in its place. However the original Railway Hotel building still stands and is now called the ‘Nog Inn’.
