This one place study aims to research the people and events that shaped the small settlement of Long Buckby Wharf which lies in a rural area two miles west of the parish town of Long Buckby and around three miles east of Daventry.
The canal, railway, brewery and inns were the main employers, with agricultural labour featuring quite highly too. The Wharf had a transient population of boating families, some of whom settled here, whilst others just passed through. There are some very distinct family names, with a fair amount of inter-marrying.
