Somerleyton in Suffolk, England is the latest addition to the One Place Studies Directory.
Somerleyton is a picturesque village which lies on the border with Norfolk. The buildings around The Green were designed for Sir Samuel Peto in 1850 and although the cottages look similar they are each unique.
There was a substantial brick works here which supplied bricks for the building of Liverpool Street Station. Somerleyton has its own station and a rather unusual rail swing bridge across the Waveney. Somerleyton is also the birthplace of the hovercraft designed by Sir Christopher Cockerell who lived there.
