Simsbury in Hartford County, Connecticut is the latest United States study to be added to the free One Place Studies Directory.
The town, originally known as Massacoe, was incorporated in May 1670 and its name changed to Simsbury. One suggestion is that the name of Simsbury comes from the English town of Symondsbury where one of the petitioners originally lived. Another is that it was named after Simon Wolcott, a prominent man in the town, who was known as “Sim”.
