Swansea Area Electoral Roll, Poor Law Union & Gaol Records

Ancestry has released the following three record sets for Swansea and the surrounding area comprising:

1. Electoral Rolls 1839-1966 – for Swansea and surrounding area within West Glamorgan – yearly registers listing names and residences of people in Swansea and the surrounding area who were eligible to vote in elections

2. Poor Law Union Records 1836-1916 – for Swansea, Gower, Neath, and Pontardawe Poor Law Unions – includes creed registers, registers of births, deaths, lunatics, young persons, school attendance, admission and discharge books, workhouse punishment books and much more

3. Gaol Records 1877-1922 – for Swansea, Brecon and Carmarthen prisons, as well as a handful of photo albums of prisoners – records include prisoner names and aliases, ages, trades, offences, verdicts, sentences and more
